Cherlynn Conetsco has more than twenty-five years of experience in curriculum design, coordination, and evaluation. She created the highly acclaimed Attach� Spouse Program for the Joint Military Attach� School in Washington, DC, where she trained thousands of uniformed diplomats and family members selected for embassy duty. A Certified Protocol Consultant (CPC), she is currently President, International Association of Protocol Consultants and Officers (IAPC) in Washington, D.C. Anna Hart is the social director for the Brigade of Midshipmen and protocol adviser to the Commandant at the U.S. Naval Academy. A Certified Protocol Officer (CPO), she is the first to develop and present their four-year officership protocol and etiquette training curriculum.

An indispensible reference book, updated for the electronic age

Don't think this is a book strictly on military etiquette - it's a book on etiquette that features information on some military-specific issues. For example, Section III on "Communications Etiquette" and Section IV on "Good Manners and Civility" should be mandatory reading for every adult. Needless to say, this book covers a lot of topics that everyone should learn.
Section I focuses on US Government and Military protocol. This covers basic topics such as addressing officers and dignitaries; to more elaborate lessons on military ceremonies such as funerals and the fallen comrade table observance.
Section II is dedicated to military weddings. As an example of the authors' helpful advice, they provide a tip to have the parents write "in-laws letters". In this letter, the in-laws share how they want their newest family member to address them.
The final section, titled "International Considerations" covers topics such as international travel; chopsticks protocol; and food & drink preferences of various groups.
The previous editions have been indispensible reference books. This fifth edition has been updated to include lessons on modern electronics etiquette for email and cell-phone use. This book needs to be in the library of every military officer, and the front office of any organization that deals with the military on a regular basis.

A Must Have for Service Members

I had already purchased the fourth edition earlier, but when the new fifth edition came out, I wanted to upgrade. Not only was it an outstanding reference manual, but when I first got it in the mail, I began to read it from cover to cover. The attractive cover caught the interest of my fellow Navy ROTC Midshipmen, and they all wanted to borrow it. I am going to strongly recomend to my NROTC unit, as well as the Army and Air Force units at our school, that this book needs to be purchased by each of the aspiring officers.

a MUST HAVE for every single middle school and or high school graduate on how to present yourself and behave in the civilized society America is SUPPOSED to be, whether you are in the Military or not! Perfect engagement or wedding shower gift for the Bride and Groom and both sets of their Parents. It is what used to be taught as a matter of course before 1970 in public school as part of 'Civics and Business/Social Survival Class' but has fallen victim to 'progressive educational theories' that have utterly failed.
